Intruder

INT. STATION ENTRANCE - ECLIPSE

Matthew drags himself into The Station, shivering.

LEADS

You had to go out today.

He opens the secondary door to the main Station. Sirens fade out.

Ugh, you’ve fuckin done it now.

He sits down to examine his leg unzipping his jacket, breathing heavily.

He drinks water from a bottle.

Okay.

He opens his Bug Out Bag, puts a gag in his mouth so that he doesn’t bite his tongue, and begins gagging.

Ah come on.

One. Two. Three.

He begins taping a make shift splint to his leg, barely managing through the pain.

He lets out a sob.

Okay. One more, one more, one more one more one more-

He lets out a cry, lays his head on the floor as he attempts to calm himself.

He gets up and limps away.

INT. KITCHEN - ECLIPSE

He opens and turns on the oven, knocks over some pans.

He turns on the sink and begins washing his hands.

LEADS

I don’t know where the blood ends and my hands begin.

It’s everywhere. Not a good look.

He sits down, opens a bottle of pills and eats a handful.

I’m just gonna... defrost the worker.

He laughs.

You hear that Gina? Gonna defrost the boots. Defrost me.

He unravels a sleeping bag.

No one is coming in here.

He settles down, taking another mouthful of pills with water. The pill bottle is empty.

Useless.

He loudly eats the remaining pills.

What sucks about dreams. Is that when you’re in a dream. You’re never quite sure. You know, you never really know, but.

When you’re not in a dream. It’s pretty damn obvious.

Just need a minute.

He begins to dose.

INT. KITCHEN - ECLIPSE

Matthew wakes up. The over is still on.

Loud, feathery steps can be heard on the other side of the kitchen door. Each step comes with what sounds like the beating of many small wings.

It hits the door once.

Twice.

A third time.

Matthew tries to hold his breath.

It breaks the wood around the door knob, then slowly pushes the door open.

It steps in. It lets a strange vocalization, like a rapid clicking, while dozens of wings beat the air around it.

It leaves the kitchen.

Matthew pants in frightened relief, slowly gets up.

INT. FIRST FLOOR HALLWAY - ECLIPSE

He can hear the thing walking away. He limps in the other direction.

INT. THE DOOR - ECLIPSE

He passes THE DOOR in the hallway, freezing for a moment as it makes its presence known.

INT. STAIRWELL - ECLIPSE

Matthew makes his way up the stairs.

On the first floor the door to the stairwell opens.

The thing lets out a vocalization once more. Then retreats.

Matthew rushes to the Third Floor.

INT. THIRD FLOOR - STORM

Matthew enters. A raging storming can be heard on the other side of the windows. He limps towards them.

LEADS

Holy hell. The storms never been this bad before. The windows are icing up. Gah. What the hell am I going to do? If this keeps up the whole Station’s going to be under a foot of ice.

Cameras. Oh cameras.

INT. CAMERA ROOM - STORM

Matthew flicks on the monitors for the security cameras.

Alright wake up.

There we go.

Where are you.

Where are you, you can’t hide from me in here.

He slides to the other side of the room on a rolling office chair.

Where... Ah.

I see you.

The sleep of reason produces monsters.

What are you looking for?

He looks to the old monitor in the corner, the one that watches THE DOOR.

A feint thrumming of THE DOOR begins to build.

Where... What do you want with my DOOR? What do you hear when you get close? Does it... sing to you too? Can you feel it vibrate within your bones? No, you don’t like that do you.

The thing begins retreating from THE DOOR.

Even mysteries break before THE DOOR.

That’s right. Get out. This place is not for you, get out.

A long pause. He lets out a sigh of relief.

Oh it’s gone.

Gina.

INT. COMPUTER LAB - STORM

Matthew sits at Terminal 3, typing.

LEADS

Dear Gina. There’s been a complication. Please send...

He deletes it.

Gina I don’t know how much ice this station can handle but...

He deletes it.

Gina I know you’re some place warm, but I really need help.

He deletes it.

No...

Gina.

Did you know?

About THE DOOR?

About the thing from the star?

You have ignored me.

You have ignored my concerns.

Was this your design?

Did you leave me here to die?

The storm picks up.

AWAKENING, by SAGE GC, starts playing.

Will I will not go so easily.

I will not die in this place.

I promise you. This is not my end.

He hits send.

Stands.

Something strange passes by the glass.

A long beat.

A many winged thing flies into the glass, repeatedly impacting until the glass breaks, letting in the storm.

It lands. Its face produces a declarative vocalization.

LEADS

Fucking unbelievable.

It starts to pursue. He knocks over a desk, then limps away as fast as he can.

The wings that cover its body beat incessantly, its legs make confident step after confident step, larger wings dragging behind and knocking aside obstacles.

Matthew rushes to the Camera Room door.

He tries several times to close it.

LEADS

Close, close.

He does everything he can to move the piece of furniture holding the door open. The beating of wings gets closer.

LEADS

Close, close!

It cries out.

The door slams.

He breathes in and out loudly.

It bangs on the door. He cries out.

The sound of many wings, it begins to float.

The metal door starts to crumple, is torn off its frame and thrown aside.

It lets out another vocalization. Begins to fill the room.

LEADS

No, I have to get back! I have to, I have to get-

It reaches out with a third limb and complete covers his mouth.

It lifts him. He resists as he begins to suffocate.

It shoves him into the wall. Lifts him up.

He tries to get words out, something like “I gotta get back”. It continues to beat him against the wall.

It finally pins him down, many wings beating in anticipation.

Its face opens up. Matthew tries to scream.

Something like a beak emerges from it.

It leans down and bites a hole in Matthews forehead. He lets his breath out in a moaning sigh.

It pulls back, and drops him on the floor. He crumples.

It slowly leaves the room.

Matthew is silent.

There is a long, drawn out pause.

Sudden movement, Matthew takes in several shrieking gasps of air.
